About the Sri Lanka Justice Project (SLJP)
The Sri Lanka Justice Project (SLJP) is an independent, non-profit initiative dedicated to supporting individuals and communities who face discrimination, marginalization, or systemic injustice.
Our Mission & Vision
At the heart of SLJP's mission is the belief that justice must be meaningful, equitable, and restorative. We affirm that justice is incomplete without adequate redress for those who have suffered harm.
Redress and Restoration
Compensation extends far beyond financial relief. It stands as an official acknowledgement of the injustice endured. It validates the individual's experience, provides the resources needed to rebuild disrupted lives, and restores dignity and agency to those who have long struggled to obtain justice.
While no remedy can fully erase the impact of discrimination or abuse, appropriate compensation represents a critical step in the healing process. It helps individuals regain stability, seek closure, and move forward with confidence. Most importantly, it affirms that society recognizes their struggle and that their suffering is neither overlooked nor dismissed.
Our Approach
To advance this mission, SLJP works closely with affected individuals by listening to their concerns, learning their unique circumstances, and guiding them toward appropriate legal, administrative, and advocacy pathways. Our approach is grounded in empathy, clarity, and respect, helping individuals navigate systems that are often complex, intimidating, or inaccessible without support.
Looking Forward
SLJP is currently in its formation stage, formalizing its organizational registration and establishing its inaugural Board of Directors. As part of this growth, we invite practicing lawyers, human rights professionals, and committed individuals who share our values to join us in strengthening justice, transparency, and equal access to remedies for communities across Sri Lanka.
Through collective effort and principled action, SLJP strives to build a society where every individual - regardless of their background - can seek justice with confidence and be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
